Helen Cantrell

Helen Fern Cantrell, 75, of Broughton passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born on August 7, 1945 the daughter Wilson and Flora (Buttry) Mayberry.  Helen was retired, having been a pharmacy technician at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois for many years.  She was a member of  New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Broughton, where she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher as well as custodian.  Helen enjoyed  crafting, crocheting and taking care of her birds and cats.  She loved her children very much and cherished her time with them.

Helen is survived by her children, Charles David Cantrell and Debra June Cantrell; a brother Don Mayberry and six grandcats.

Graveside Services for Helen Fern Cantrell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 16, 2020 at New Prospect Cemetery in Broughton, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA. 22116-7023 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of arrangements.  In accordance with CDC and IDPH recommendations social distancing will be observed and masks will be required.
