Hazel Russell, 94, of Carmi passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 9:10 pm at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born January 16, 1923 in Centerville, IL the daughter of James Oscar and Minnie Marie (Hutchcraft) Cherry. Hazel married Donald Harlan Russell on September 25, 1940 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1998. She was a farmwife and a member of the New Beginning Church of God.
Hazel is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Wesley Huwe of Evansville, IN; brother, Wayne Cherry of Crossville; daughter-in-law, Nancy Russell of Carmi; brother-in-law, Roy Robley of Enfield; 4 grandchildren, Kent (Tracy) Moore, Paul (Chris) Russell, Jr., Sheila Boss and Kimberly Alzate; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including Jeanette and (Paul) Schalk of Enfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, her son, Paul Russell, Sr., three brothers, Edward, Ronald and Carl Cherry, two sisters, Grace Robley and Fern Hucker and a grandson, Edward Russell.
Funeral services for Hazel Russell, 94, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at New Beginning Church of God in Carmi with Mike Fields and Rev. Michael LeBuhn officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery in Enfield. Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi and after 10:00 am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at New Beginning Church of God. Memorial contributions may be made in Hazel's memory to New Beginning Church of God Ladies Auxiliary and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
