Hazel Murdach

Hazel L. (Nelson) Murdach passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born October 14, 1921 in White County, Illinois to James R. Nelson and Edna (Saunders) Nelson Warthen. On May 29, 1942 she married Hubert L. Murdach and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2002. Hazel worked for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Carmi High School and for Cox Oil. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Carmi and the Carmi Lions Club.
Hazel is survived by four daughters: Suellen (Tom) Smith, formerly of Salem, IL., Rosellen (Mike) Jones, Nancy (Stan) Armstrong all of Carmi, IL. and Janet (Roger) Spencer of Shalimar, Fl. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a sister, Elsie DeJonghe of Silver Springs, Maryland.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Hazel L. Murdach, 91, of Carmi will be Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Bruce Chapel Cemetery near Carmi with Rev. Luke Raczykowski and Mike Fields officiating. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family asks that donations be made to the Carmi Lions Club in lieu of flowers and will be accepted at the funeral home.
