Harvey R. Morton, 85 of Mt. Vernon, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville. He was born on November 30, 1926 in Breckenridge County, Kentucky, the son of Parrish Edward and Mattie Lee (Bennett) Martin. He married Sara Bradford on August 16, 1949 in Cloverport, KY and she survives.
Mr. Morton retired from the U.S. Government Corp of Engineers, then worked for Mulzer Crushed Stone in Mt. Vernon for 20 years. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in Japan with the Occupational Forces. He was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Agape Family Ministries in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his wife, Sara, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Russell E. and Lois Morton of Harned, KY, Danny B. and Ann Morton of Hardinsburg, KY, and Stephen Mark and Kimberly Ann Morton, of Mt. Vernon; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Robin and Mark Steven Wilhite of Dallas Ft. Worth, TX; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Godfrey and Jean Morton of Brandenburg, KY and Marcus Lee Morton of Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Morton and Richard Morton and three sisters, Velma Isom, Patty Jean Shellman and Juanita Hendrick.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 10 until the time of the service.
