Gordon Wesley Nelson, 72
of Mt. Vernon, Indiana
died at Friday, October 26, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Gordon was born to Wesley and Ellen (Turner) Nelson on September 3, 1935. He was raised in Mt. Vernon and moved to Chicago with his beloved wife, Lillian (Blaha) until her death in February 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with his family and friends. Gordon worked for Ryerson Steel in Chicago, Illinois for twenty-five years, then, to keep busy, he drove as a railroad transport driver for an Illinois cab company in Cicero, Illinois.
He is survived by: a daughter, Barbara Maki of Chetek, WI
a granddaughter, Heather Maki of Downers Grove, IL
three sisters, Martha Nobles and her husband, Wilfred
Sharon Hanmore and Carolyn Cox all of Mt. Vernon, IN
two brothers, Larry Nelson and wife, Jackie of Mt. Carmel, IL
Roger Nelson of Mt. Vernon, IN
Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Nelson, his parents, Wesley and Ellen Nelson, four brothers, Micheal David, Joseph Wayne, Donald Lee Nelson and John McBride and one sister, Marjorie (McBride) Moore.
