Glen A. "Artie" Vangampler, 48, of Oakville, MO and formerly of Carmi, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 7:15 p.m. at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born on May 18, 1967 in Eldorado, IL the son of Glen L. and Loretta Faye (Pryor) Vangampler. Artie graduated in 1985 from Carmi Community High School and went on to graduate with High Honors from McKendree College. He was a computer programmer with Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Co. Artie was an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism where he was known as Sir Arthur the Quiet.
Artie is survived by his parents, Glen and Loretta Vangampler of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Glenna and Edwin Potter of Pocahontas, IL; a brother, Rick Vangampler of Henderson, KY; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Artie will be deeply missed by his family, coworkers and neighbors.
Funeral Services for Glen A. "Artie" Vangampler, 48, of Oakville, MO will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen A. "Artie" Vangampler Scholarship which will go to a graduating Carmi White County High School student and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
