Biography
Germaine T. Corwin, of Carmi, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was born October 8, 1929, in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Susan (Knitter) Knich. She married Loy G. Corwin December 1, 1956, in Waukesha, WI, and he survives.
She had worked for General Electric In Wisconsin as a secretary for many years. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries in Carmi. She was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, Loy, she is survived by a daughter, Christine Sommerfeld of Iowa City, IA; a granddaughter and her husband, Stacy and Nathan Ross of Iowa City, IA; and a sister, Violet Kawlewski, of Stevens Point, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 11:00 am, at St. Polycarp Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Lawler officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of mass at the church. Burial will take place in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.
