Georgianna Brockett

    Georgianna Brockett, 81, of Norris City passed away at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.  She was born in Twigg Township, Hamilton County, Illinois on October 17, 1941 the daughter of Darrell and Beatrice (Griswold) Smith. Georgianna married Charles W. Brockett at Braden Valley Church west of Dale on July 12, 1958.  

     Georgianna was a Christian and it defined everything in her life.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Norris City, where she was teaching an art class.  Georgianna was a school teacher for many years in the Hamilton County School District, including time at East Side Elementary and the Junior and Senior High Schools, where she taught English, Art and Grammar.  Georgianna was an artist and enjoyed drawing and painting along with being an avid reader. She had served on the NCOE School Board and was a member of DAR.

     Georgianna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles; a daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Kemal Ibragic of Highland Village, TX; a granddaughter and her husband, Alexandra and Richard Peterson of Indianapolis,IN; four siblings, Jane Webb and Clara Sloan of Spring Arbor, MI, Gene Smith of Manteno, IL and Nancy Waddell of Plano, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

      Funeral Services for Georgianna Brockett, 81, of Norris City will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Norris City. Burial will follow in Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton, IL.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon at First Baptist Church in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Georgianna's memory to First Baptist Church in Norris City and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City who is in charge of arrangements.
