George T. Spencer, 88, of Crossville, passed away at 4:26 a.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, IN. He was born on October 9, 1928 in Crossville, the son of Grover C. and Amanda Frances (Lamont) Spencer. George married Norma Jean Levingston on December 31, 1948. He was a 1946 graduate of Crossville High School. George worked as a grain and livestock farmer.
George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma Spencer; son, George Kent (Susan) Spencer of Crossville; two daughters, Alisa (Brent) Smith of Crossville and Susan (Nick) Renshaw of Carmi; son-in-law, Mike Lankston of Westville, IL; five grandchildren, Justin (Monica) Spencer, Jordan (Jenny) Spencer, Amanda (Kurt) Bridgewater, Holly (Matt) Stein and Bailey Renshaw; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Amanda Spencer, a daughter Terry Ellen Lankston, a brother Chelsea Spencer, and three sisters Lota Carter, Doris Barbre, and Ada Hughes.
Funeral services for George T. Spencer, 88, of Crossville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on February 24, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be given in George's memory to Crossville Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
