Gene Holland

     Eugene "Gene" Holland, 80, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. He was born on September 30, 1942. in McLeansboro, Illinois, the son of John and Marjorie Mae (Russell) Holland. Gene worked in the oilfield for many years. He enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns, fishing and walking his dog.

     Gene is survived by wife, Victoria Ann Scott of Carmi, IL; children, Beatrice (Frank Claybrook) of Virginia, IL; Jackie (Scott) Johnson of Dale, IL, and Benjamin Holland of McLeansboro, IL; grandchildren, Austin Johnson, Victoria Long, Jamie Long, Jacob Workman, and Brandon Wheeler; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael Holland of Vincennes, IN; and Betty (Bob Leathers) of Danville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dale Holland, Roy Holland, and Johnny Holland; and two grandchildren, Lucas Johnson and Michael Holland.

     A memorial service for Gene Holland will be held at a later date. Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
