Gene Desper

Gene Desper, 60 of Carmi, passed away Monday June 27, 2016. He was born April 3, 1956 in Carmi, the son of Clarence Eugene and Yvonee (Rohrer) Desper. He married Amy Neels on April 14, 2009.
Gene was a longtime area drywaller. He worked 40 years in the trade, his sons worked alongside of him and learned his work along with numerous other area guys through the years. He loved observing nature and going on country “road trips”. He had been a member of the Nazarene Church in Ashville, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; sons, Joe (Carrie), Dylan and Daniel Desper; step-son, Bobby Nelson; grandchildren, Declan, Damien, Daisy, Draden, Jamisen, Kynli and Drason; brother, Chris James; aunts, Zella Medlin and Marilyn Woodruff; step-father, Everett James and former wife, Michelle Roberts. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Frances Gwaltney; his parents, granddaughter, Annica Brielle; and brother, Stanley Beason.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday July 1, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Marshall Ferry Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until service time on Friday. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
