Gayla Walker

Gayla A. Walker, 46 of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday June 6, 2009 at her home. She was born on May 9, 1963 in Carmi, the daughter of Henry Burnett and Claudia Julian. She married William “Bill” Walker November 11, 1984 in Carmi and he survives.


Mrs. Walker was a Nurses Aide at Westpark Rehab in Evansville. She was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges in Mt. Vernon, IN.


She is survived b y her husband, Bill; a son, William Curtis Walker, Jr. of Carmi; a daughter, Nicole Ann Walker of Mt. Vernon; one granddaughter, Olivia Ann Walker; two brothers, Chuck Hunsinger and Clinton Hunsinger, both of Carmi; three sisters, Denise Osborne and Delisa Brown, both of Carmi and Jeannie Hanmore of New Harmony; grandmother, Dorothy Wangler of Carmi; several aunts, uncles . cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Burnett and Claudia Julian Blazier and her grandfathers, Claude Julian and Edward Wangler.


Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Austin Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. On-line condolences may be left at Austinfuneralhome.com.
