Gary Schmidt

Gary L. Schmidt, 64 of Mt. Vernon, passed away at his home on August 31, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1951 in Evansville, the son of Roger and Martha Schmidt. He married Connie Ayers on March 25, 2015 in Mt. Vernon and she survives.

Mr. Schmidt worked for 40 years as a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Agency Dept./Highway Dept. of Posey County. He was a member of the Evansville VFW #1114 and was an avid fisherman. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; two daughters, Melissa (Dennis) Barker of Evansville and Mary Schmidt of Mt. Vernon; 4 grandchildren; three brothers, Roger (Anita) Schmidt and Steve (Brenda) Schmidt, all of Wapakoneta, OH and Bryan (Darlene) Schmidt of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Ryan Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday September 4, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
