Local businessman Gary Kingery, 78, passed away Thursday morning at 2:45 a.m. at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Gary was born on October 27, 1942, in Carmi, Illinois, the son of the late Paul and Genevieve Kingery.
Gary and his wife, Anita, are the owner/operators of Yesterdays Drive In and Yesterdays Catering. Gary was Executive Vice President, Director of Merchandising and Marketing for Scot Lad Foods for many years. Gary left this position to form his own company, Mid America Marketing and later purchased Yesterdays Restaurant and Catering.
Gary was saved and baptized at Cherry Street Baptist Church and was currently a member at Kingdom Baptist Church in Carmi.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Anita, and five children; Gary Keith (Cyndi) Kingery, Leigh Pemberton (Richard) Cook, Adam (Lindsay) Kingery, Kim (Mark) Worlds, and Ryan Kingery; four grandchildren, Jessica Kingery, Trevor Kingery, Evan (Siara) Worlds, and Allyson Worlds; one great-grandchild, Karsyn Worlds; a brother, Ron (Sharon) Kingery and one sister, Connie (Fred) Loyd.
Funeral services for Gary Kingery will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday June 14, 2021 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with burial at Tate's Chapel Cemetery in Galatia, Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Campbell Funeral Home and from noon until service time on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gary's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements. In accordance with CDC reccomendations and per family request, masks will be required.
