Garnet Phipps

Garnet C. Phipps, 85, of Evansville, IN and formerly of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 6:20 p.m. at the Heritage Center in Evansville. She was born May 24, 1926 in Arlington Heights, IL, the daughter of Robert S. and Glendora (Gillespie) Dick. Garnet married Robert Gene Phipps on June 18, 1949 and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2009. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda K. and Jerry Settle of Nampa, ID, Laura J. and William Fisher and Beth Anne Phipps both of Evansville, IN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth B. and Vicki Phipps of Waukesha, WI and Lee D. and Laura Sue Phipps of Bellingham, WA; three sisters, Elaine Leeth of White Pigeon, MI, Annabelle Carlson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Jean Robinson of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Matthew and Evan Phipps, Emily Fisher and Rachel Phipps; and one step granddaughter, Tanya McAtee; and a great-granddaughter, Bailey Basaj.

Garnet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Scott Phipps; and a sister, Catherine Sharpley.

Funeral services for Garnet Phipps, 85 of Evansville, formerly of Carmi will be Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:00 am at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Joe Foster officiating. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Sunday, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Garnet's name to Heritage Hospice, 1202 W. Buena Vista Rd., Evansville, In 47710 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
