Freda Doerner

Freda Doerner, 85, of Mt. Vernon, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 12:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born June 3, 1928 in Norris City, IL, the daughter of Robert Newton and Bertha Agnes (Hughes) Edwards. She had worked as a bar manager at Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn in Mt. Vernon.
Freda is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Michele Doerner of Mt. Vernon, IL and Brad and Winona Doerner of Percy, IL; three grandchildren, Keisha Woodbridge of Bedford, TX, Brandon Lee (Sarah) Doerner of Hurricane, WV and Christopher David (Kasey) Doerner of Ava, IL; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bert Morris of Norris City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Duane Doerner and a sister, Wanda Edwards.
Graveside funeral and burial services for Freda Doerner, 85, of Mt. Vernon, will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery in Norris City. There is no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial gifts may be given in Freda's name to the Shriner's Hospital or Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
