Frank W. Pennington, 89, of Norris City, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 4:50 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born on April 2, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, the son of Acie Lee and Essie (Clark) Pennington. Frank married Sadie Delores "Dobie" Vines on January 31, 1945 and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2013. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served in the reserves for 20 years. Frank farmed and worked as a mechanic; retiring from Liberty Auto Salvage in Evansville after 45 years. He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville and a lifetime member of the American Legion and V.F.W.
Frank is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Bob Moore of Ravenden Springs, AR; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Eddie and Marilyn Pennington and Tracy and Terri Pennington all of Evansville, IN and Velma Pennington of Crossville; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Judy Pennington; and 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Frank W. Pennington, Jr.; two sisters, Emily Romans and Mary Ann Gumbel; and two brothers, George and Acie L. "Toddy" Pennington.
Funeral services for Frank W. Pennington, 89, of Norris City, will be private with burial in Plainview Cemetery near Norris City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given, in Frank's name to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 71, 905 S. 12th Street, Herrin, IL 62948. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
