Frank Koontz

Frank H. Koontz, age 74 of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday afternoon May 12, 2010 at his home. He was born June 11, 1935 in Carmi, IL the son of Henry and Mae (Meredith) Koontz. He married Kaye Sanders on September 29, 1969 in Enfield, IL.


Frank had worked as a guard at G.E. Plastics. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, camping, fishing and hunting. He attended the Cathedral of Praise Church in Evansville.


Frank is survived by his wife Kaye; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim Koontz of Mt. Vernon, IN, Donald and Tammy Koontz of Poseyville, and Kenny and Rachel Koontz of Mt. Vernon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Tim King and Angie and James Wyant all of Mt. Vernon; one step-son and his spouse, Jeff and Gladys Schauberger of Henderson, KY; twenty six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Rita Koontz of Moscow, ID; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Ed Fry of Enfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mae Koontz.


Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday May 16, 2010 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home with Brother Scotty Calvert and Rev. Tom Buffington officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi, IL. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday May 15, 2010 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
