Frances Steele, age 86 of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday evening April 23, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born October 20, 1927 the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Allen) Hutchins. She married Kermit L. Steele May 31, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2001.
Frances was a founding member of the Mt. Vernon First Nazarene Church. She had worked at A&P Supermarket in Evansville for 18 years and Hironimus Food Market in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Bobbie Jo) Steele of Evansville, her daughter, Karen Lawson of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Tina (Jon) Parker, Tony (Joy) Alldredge, Rob (Michelle) Rowland and Darcy (Kaci) Rowland; seven great grandchildren, Bryce and Max Alldredge, Chelsea and Cam Parker, Quinn, Daycia and Kanyon Rowland; two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Owen TeVault; one sister, Lillian Cox of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Andrew Hutchins and one sister, Faye Loggains.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 26, 2014 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Mark Tabor officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services. In lieu of flowers memorials are sugggested to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
