Biography

Frances N. Pollard, age 74 of Carmi, died Tuesday morning October 23, 2012 at her home. She was born April 18, 1938 in Grayville, the daughter of Ezra and Virginia (Hutchcraft) Simmons. She married William Pollard on January 27, 1953 in Shawneetown and he preceded her in death in 2008.


Frances had worked for many years as an in home healthcare worker for Addus Healthcare in Mt. Carmel. She loved to learn, she took many interesting classes at our local Junior College to further her self. She was a very active member of the Carmi New Beginnings Church of God.


She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Emma Pollard, Everett Pollard and Albert and Rachel Pollard, all of Carmi; two daughters, Peggy Browning and Jenny Midkiff both of Carmi; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Earl Ray Simmons of CA and Tommy (Shirley) Simmons of Griffin, IN; two sisters, Barbara Allen and Irene Adams both of IN; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Loretta) Pollard of Carmi and Roy Pollard of Thailand; four sisters-in-law, Betty (Tom) Hosick and Mabel (Don) Todd all of Enfield, Maxine and Doyles Harvey of TN and Helen Sexton and a very special friend Maurice McCall, and a special niece Delores Gunter all of Carmi.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William; one son, William “Little Bill” Pollard; two sons-in-law, Larry Browning and Kirk Midkiff; granddaughter, Amy Lynn Pollard; brother, Jimmy Pollard and sister, Sereda Simmons Jones.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. On Friday October 26, 2012 at the Carmi New Beginnings Church of God with Rev. Keith Moore and Wade Carty officiating. Burial will be in N. Maple Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m on Thursday at the church. The family would like to give special thanks to TIP Hospice in Mt. Carmel for their excellent care.
