Frances B. York

     Frances B. York, 94, of Mill shoals, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born on June 19, 1929, in Mill Shoals, Illinois, the daughter of William O. and Lana S. (Fleck) Bryant. Frances married Gilbert Earl York on June 19, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2010. Frances graduated from Enfield High School in 1946.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Johnny Puckett at the DX Service station in Carmi, as well as for John Deere. Later she went on to work as a teller at Wayne County Bank. Frances was a member of Wesleyan Church in Fairfield, and was active in the First Methodist Church in Mill Shoals. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Frances loved spending time with her family and friends. 

     Frances is survived by her children, Sharon (Randy) Whitsitt of Carmi, IL Kevin (Joyce) York of Fairfield, IL, and ; grandchildren, Laura Whitsitt and Meredith (Grant) Thurmond; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Cowles, Amber Williams, and Joseph Polston; step-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Matthew, Keeley and Marlee; siblings, Jake (Helen) Bryant of Burnt Prairie, IL, Koy (Margaret) Bryant of Carmi, IL, and Dorys Glover of Albion, IL. In addition to her husband, Gilbert York, Frances is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Robert Bryant and Kathryn Konsler.

     Funeral services for Frances York will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with burial following at Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Frances' memory to Wabash Christian Village Activity Fund or Wesleyan Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
