Floyd R. Parks, 74, of Newburgh, IN and formerly of Carmi passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway. He was born May 24, 1942 in Burnt Prairie, IL the son of John Lawrence and Hattie M. (Taylor) Parks. He married Janice C. (Gray) Kane on April 23, 1993. Floyd worked as a car sales man for Kenny Kent Chevrolet and had managed Absher Chevrolet in Carmi. Floyd was a loyal friend, a member of Crossroads Christian Church and former member of First Christian Church in Carmi. He was also the former Carmi Township Clerk, and member of Carmi Lions Club and Elks.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 23 years, Janice Parks of Newburgh, IN; three sons, Bret and Tammy Parks of Carmi, Brian and Julie Parks of Evansville, IN, and John and Mona (French) Kane of Mt. Juliet, TN; a daughter, Rebecca Wallace of Bakersfield, CA; two brothers, Ronald Parks of Boonville, IN and Jim Parks of Carmi; nine grandchildren, Hannah Georgescu, Quincy Wallace, John Kane, Kenneth Kane, Emma Graves and husband Justin, Brady Puntney and wife Briley, Nicholas Weems, Peighton Parks and Carson Parks; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Floyd R. Parks, 74, of Newburgh will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Floyd's memory to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Payshpere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
