Florence E. King, 71, of Mt. Vernon, passed away early Sunday morning, October 8, 2017 at her home. She was born on February 28, 1946 in Texas City, IL, the daughter of Walter ad Gladys "Pete" (Ridens) Clark. She married David Shelton and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. King was a homemaker. She belonged to the Faith Fellowship Church in Mt. Vernon. She enjoyed her walks, and time with friends, especially at the Eagles.
She is survived by children, Henry Shelton, David Wayne, Twana, Tammy, Christine, and Mary Jo; brothers, Larry (Sarah) Clark and Johnny Clark; sister, Doris Crutchfield; grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Shelton, and Jayden Rush; great-grandchildren, Preston, Braxton, Kaylie and Jamie (on the way); several nieces and nephews; and very dear friend, Alice Cameron. She was preceded in death by brother, Kenny Clark and sister, Juanita Schaeffer, grandson, Hardy Rush, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Shelton.
