Fannie Spence, 100, of Carmi passed away at 1:35 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born in Enfield, IL on February 27, 1915 the daughter of Elza and Turza Alvira (Downen) Wilson. Fannie married Dalton Eddie Spence on January 7, 1939 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1998. She was a homemaker and member of Plainview General Baptist Church.
Fannie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen Doris and Creighton Hampton of Carmi and Barbara and Dewain Kramer of Fairfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Gail Spence of Carmi and Carl and Jane Spence of Salem; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Wayne and Nancy Wilson of Carmi; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dalton, two sisters, Alta Pottorff and Edna Fern Wilson, a brother, Clarence Wilson and two grandchildren, Donna Jean Hampton and David Creighton Hampton.
Funeral Services for Fannie Spence, 100, of Carmi will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Plainview General Baptist Church near Norris City with Tim Gholson officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Plainview General Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Fannie's memory to Plainview Cemetery and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
