Evelyn A. Bozendorf, 96, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.  Evelyn was born in Chicago, IL on November 5, 1920, the daughter of Albert Max and Emma Bertha (Burkhart) Zappendorf.  She married Louis James Bozendorf on February 28, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1987.  Evelyn worked as a cashier  at Continental Can for 16 years. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, and a past member of  the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, held a chair position with the American Legion, and was a 15 year volunteer with ceramics at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Janice Miller, of Carmi; two granddaughters, Judy Whitaker and Pamala Burton-Bynum and husband Randy; eight great-grandchildren, Josh, Judi, and Jared Whitaker, Jessica, Samuel, and Nathan Grimsley and Cody and Blake Bynum; and three great-great grandchildren, Kason, Kamdon, Adalynn.  Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; a brother, Harold Zappendorf; sister Audrey Johnson; two grandchildren Joseph Zerial and William Burton; and two great-great grandchildren Raylan and Bentley Whitaker.

Graveside funeral services and burial for Evelyn A. Bozendorf, 96, of Carmi will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Carmi with Rev. Dean Spooner officiating.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. and Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's memory to Our Savior Lutheran Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
