Longtime Norris City resident, Evelyn Maxine Blythe, 92, of Glen Carbon, IL passed away Tuesday January 29, 2013 at 1:37 p.m. at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL. She was born in Salem on March 16, 1920, the daughter of Orville and Hattie Marie (Willis) Hanes. She married Shirley Blythe on August 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2003. She was a housewife and attended Norris City Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bill and Patricia Blythe of Edwardsville, IL, and Jim and Linda Blythe of Bowling Green, KY; four grandchildren, Tim Blythe and Mark Blythe of Edwardsville, Alan Blythe of Bowling Green KY, and Valerie Haley of Forth Worth, TX; six great grandchildren, Matthew Haley, triplets, Austin, Connor and Dalton Blythe, Evan Blythe and Brooke Blythe; numerous cousins and her beloved cat, Katey..
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Shirley, a sister, Gladys Wiehle, three cousins and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services for longtime Norris City resident Evelyn Maxine Blythe, 92, will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Janet Roy officiating. Entombment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to Norris City United Methodist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois St., Belleville, IL 62220-2159 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
