Ethel May Stallings, 92, of Carmi passed away at 9:55 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born in Carmi, IL on January 11, 1924 the daughter of Ernest J. and Lydia Mary (Winter) Miller. Ethel married Gilbert Elwood Stallings on August 25, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2005. She worked as a receptionist for Drs. Dash and Fisherman then later worked for Dr. Harrell and Dr. Abelson.
Ethel is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Audra Stallings of Henderson, KY, Dale and Pat Stallings of Okawville, IL and Rex and Sharon Stallings of Carmi; two sisters, Eleanor and Vernon Hubele of Carmi and Grace Shook of Carmi; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Bryon Southerland, Andrea Stallings, Carrie and Glenn Schneider, Russ and Winddee Stallings, Richi Ann Jodon, Shannon and Lex Nausley and Jason and Crystal Stallings; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lydia Miller, her husband Gilbert Stallings, three sisters, Helen Pollard, Ruth Tate and Ferris Ann Ashworth and two grandsons, Ryan and Richard Mitchell Stallings.
Funeral services for Ethel May Stallings, 92, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Visitation will be at 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel's memory to Supportive Living of Wabash or Wabash Christian Retirement Center Memory Care Unit and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
