Ervin E. "Ed" Fry, 75, of Enfield passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Louis University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Centralia, IL on September 11, 1943 the son of Ervin Edward and Minnie Lee (Smith) Fry. Ed married Connie K. Koontz on January 11, 1962. He worked as a Union electrician with the IBEW and had previously worked eight years for the City of Carmi. Ed was also and auctioneer and was known as Colonel Ed. He faithfully attended The Roads Church in Norris City. Ed loved the outdoors, especially hunting, horseback riding and riding his motorcycle, but most important to him was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving Ed are his wife of 57 years, Connie; two daughters, Shelly (Bob) Jones of Mt. Vernon, IN and Sheila (Greg) Absher of Boonville, IN; a son, Eddie Fry of Enfield; a sister, Marjorie Harrington of Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren, Josh (Tonya) Absher, Zach (Tiffany) Absher, Amanda (Shane) Sisco, Annie (Brandon) Hoeche, Ryan (Jessie) Jones and Travis (Jennifer) Jones; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Glover.
Funeral services for Ervin E. "Ed" Fry, will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
