Ervin Malone

August 10, 1932 — July 11, 2019

Ervin Dean Malone was born August 10, 1932, to Cloyd Commodore and Maggie Jane (Rockett) Malone in rural Springerton and departed this life on July 11, 2019. He had been employed in the oilfield, at Babcock and Wilcox, and retired from White County Government. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a military policeman, guarded the DMZ, and built roads. Ervin was a member of the VFW and Carmi First Christian Church. He enjoyed quail and rabbit hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, watching college basketball games and eating out at the Coffee Shop.

Ervin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean (Taylor) Malone; three sons; Steve (Susie), Marion; Mike (Lynn), Grand Island, FL; and Eddie (Tisha), Evansville, IN; six grandchildren, Sara, Nick, Connor, Mason, Jenna, and Eric Malone; two step grandchildren, Bryon and Stephanie Stewart; two step great grandchildren, Ava Dorsey and Bevon Stewart; a sister, Lois Bathe, The Villages, FL; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd (1965) and Maggie (1987); five brothers, Dale (2000), Lester (1969), James (1921), Clyde (2008), and Don (1965); six sisters, Bonnie Savage Kinney (2004), Mabel Malone (1911), Dorothy Dannells (2001), Thelma Moore (2010), Zelma DeFoe (2005) and Jean Anderson (2015).

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden with Military Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ervin's memory to Alzheimer's Association or Linda E. White Hospice House and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
