Ernie Bartley

Ernie Bartley, 61, of Carmi passed away at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born in Gallatin County, IL on December 19, 1953 the son of James and Edith Murl (Ellison) Bartley. Ernie married Carolyn Elaine Cates on May 5, 1974. He had work for 12 years as a farm hand for John and Karen Williams along with driving a bus for the Carmi White County School District for 15 years. Ernie was a member of Maunie First Church of God.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years Elaine of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Arron and Angie Bartley and Kevin L. Bartley all of Carmi; three brothers and and two sisters-in-law, James and Alva Jean Bartley of Omaha, Dennis Bartley of Norris City and Gary and Betty Bartley of Carmi; four step-grandchildren, Dakota, Mason, Ivory and Rose. Ernie was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Durbin and four brothers, Junior, Robert, Merle and Paul Bartley.

Graveside funeral services and burial for Ernie Bartley, 61, of Carmi are at 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 in Centerville Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Crawford officiating. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi to help with funeral expenses.
