Eric Jason Thomas, 42 of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2015 at his home. He was born July 26, 1973 in Evansville, the son of Dennis and Kalah (Brakie) Thomas.
Eric attended Farmersville School and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1991. He was a member of the Wildcats Marching Band and played Alto Sax. After high school he attended USI. He had been employed at Bradley Trucking and GE-Sabic. Eric was a huge NFL Colts fan. He loved cars, hunting, dogs and woodworking. He had attended Harvestime Temple and the Point Township of the Nazarene Church.
He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Kalah; brother, Chad Thomas, sister, Andrea (Rev. Corey) Rash; niece and nephew, Isabella Violet and Austin Thomas Rash. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wilford and Agnes Thomas and maternal grandparents, George and Violet Brakie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson and Rev. Brett Doninger officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to PC Pound Puppies.
