Emily Artin

Emily Joyce Artin, 89 of Carmi, passed away Sunday night October 26, 2014 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born January 22, 1925 in Posey County, IN the daughter of Horace and Dorothy (Webb) Hames. She married Harold W. Artin on June 4, 1960 and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1999.

Emily Joyce retired from General Telephone after 35 years working as an operator. She had also worked on the LST's at the Evansville Shipyard. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by 1 sister, Ruth Ann (Jim) Hames Grebe of Arnold, MO; 1 brother, Samuel Edward Grimes of Zepher Hills, FL; niece and nephew, Jeff and Jody Crocker and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery at New Harmony, IN. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials are suggested to the Southern Illinois Hospice or Pets at Risk.
