Elnora Shipley
January 28, 1930 — April 1, 2016
Elnora Shipley, 86 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday April 1, 2016 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 28, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Valker E. and Allie B. (Phelps) Tomlinson.
Elnora was a companion sitter with the elderly for over 23 years. She was active in many church activities at the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ where she was a longtime member. Most of all she was devoted to her faith and had a deep love for her many family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Douglas (Tammy) Shipley; grandchildren, Donnald Shipley and Christa Duke; great-grandchildren, Katrina and Lillian Shipley and Sarah Duke. She is also survived and loved by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Louis and Fred Tomlinson; and sister, Doris M. Saltzman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday April 7, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
