Ella Carmack

Ella B. Carmack, 95, of Carmi passed away at 6:15 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Phoenix Rehab and Nursing. She was born December 12, 1918 in Alton, IL the daughter of Frank and Mary (Yarbrough) Ritchey. Ella married Cevil Cilvester Carmack on May 11, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1997. For 23 years, she had worked as a clerk at Harper's Drug Store. Ella had attended Cherry St. General Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Shields of Collinsville, IL; three grandchildren, Teri Garrett and her husband Keith of Collinsville, Scott Shields and his wife Phyllis and Jack Shields all of Troy; a step great granddaughter, Nichole Dotson; a step-great great granddaughter, Aaralynn Merkel; a sister, Edna Dailey of Elmwood, IL; several nieces and nephews along with a dear friend, Morris McCall. Ella was preceded in death by a son, Cevil Eugene Carmack, two sisters, Katheryene Jay and Frances Lambirth and a brother, Vallie Ritchey.

Funeral Services for Ella B. Carmack, 95, of Carmi will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Lowes Browning officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Ella's memory to The Phoenix Foundation and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
