Eleanor Wirth

Eleanor R. Wirth, 87, of Carmi passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 3:50 p.m. at her residence. She was born July 25, 1925 in Wayne City, IL the daughter of Otto and Grace (Ellis) Peyton. Eleanor married Ronald Wirth who preceded her in death on April 10, 2006. For over 30 years, she had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Elgin State Hospital and later at Menard State Prison in Chester, IL. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chester, IL and had been attending Freedom Chapel in Carmi.
Eleanor is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Cordy Gammon of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Charlie Crumbaker of Zanesville, OH; two sisters, Wanda Roberts of Coker, AL and Pat Edminson of Canton, OH; two brothers, Joe Peyton of Wappapello, MO and Ted Peyton of Arkansas; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Joe Gammon.
There will be no services at Eleanor's request. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
