Eleanor Townsend

Eleanor Ruth Townsend, 91, of Lafayette, LA, formerly of Crossville, passed away at 10:40 am on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Charles Ford Memorial Home in New Harmony, IN. She was born May 17, 1925 in Evansville, IN the daughter of Adolph and Blanche Catherine (Nickolus) Edwards. Eleanor married Clarence Darrell Townsend in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was a member of the Riverside Church of Christ in Lafayette, LA and attended Crossville Church of Christ.
Eleanor is survived by two stepsons, Darrell (Linda) Townsend of Jackson, TN and Gary (Marguerita) of Cadiz, KY; sister, Glenna Chandler of Oracle, AZ; four grandchildren, Lisa Schmidt, Philip Townsend, Dr. Darrell E. Townsend, and Dr. Alesia Brown: four great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great great grandchild Philip William VanBrakel Townsend IV.
Graveside services for Eleanor Townsend, 91, of Lafayette, LA formerly of Crossville will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor's memory to Crossville Church of Christ and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
