Effie Hanlin-Bruce

Effie B. Hanlin-Bruce, 93, of Carmi, passed away at 7:53 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born on May 30, 1921 in Washington Island, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anna (Jepsen) and John Anderson. Effie married Richard Hanlin and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1982. She then married Jesse Bruce and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2004. Effie was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church in Carmi and Chapel services at Wabash Christian.

She is survived by four daughters, Pat (Frank) Elliott of Carmi, Linda Hardin of Gurnee, IL, Annette (Chuck) Schmidt of Norris City and Crystal (Lee) Rusche of Sturgeon Bay, WI; two sons, Daniel (Margaret) Hanlin of Adams, WI, and David (Barbara) Hanlin of Washington Island, WI; two daughters-in-law, Netta Hanlin of Washington Island, WI and Abby Hanlin of Gurnee, IL; 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, John and Donald Hanlin, two grandchild, a great-great granddaughter; six sisters and four brothers.

Services will be held at a later date in Wisconsin. Memorial Contributions may be made in Effie's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center Chapel, 216 College Blvd., Carmi, IL 62821 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
