Edward Newman

Long time White County farmer, Edward G. Newman, 93, of Enfield, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at 7:24 a.m. at Phoenix Nursing and Rehab in Carmi. He was born November 20, 1918 in White County, IL, the son of Howard Thomas and Nellie (Land) Newman. He married Helen Elizabeth Smith on December 30, 1942 and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2009. Ed was a grain farmer and also raised hogs. He was a member of Enfield Christian Church and White County Farm Bureau.

Ed is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Frank Paul and Judy and Gary Morris all of Enfield; a brother and sister-in-law, William S. and Faye Newman of Marion, IL; five grandchildren, Rick and wife, Julie Morris, Pam and husband, Pat Rankin, Eric and wife, Robin Shook, Matthew and wife, Gina Shook and Dr. Stephanie and husband, Hunter Brewer; eight great-grandchildren and one step great- granddaughter.

Funeral services for Edward G. Newman, 93, of Enfield, will be Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Fred Leeds officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery in Enfield. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
