E.C. Balentine, 89, of Carmi passed away at 12:34 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. He was born on May 8, 1928 in Fifty Six, Arkansas the son of Ed and Mittie (Lankster) Balentine. E.C. married Geraldine Newcomb on November 26, 1953 and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2017. He had worked as a Diesel Mechanic for FS and as a custodian at Enfield Grade School. E.C. was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, a member of the V.F.W. and First Baptist Church in Norris City.
E.C. is survived by a brother, Lewis Balentine of Mountain Home, AR; a sister-in-law, Fern Blockley of Carmi; and several nieces and nephews including Monica Blockley of Carmi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mittie Balentine; wife of 64 years, Geraldine; a sister, Zelma Warsham; and a brother, Leveral Balentine.
Funeral services for E.C. Balentine, 89, of Carmi will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Dennis Reed officiating and Military Rites by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Private burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in E.C.'s memory to Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi to assist with funeral expenses.
