Earnie Kiefer

October 27, 1930 — April 13, 2016


Earnie D. Kiefer 85 of Grayville died April 13, 2016. He was born the son of Earnie S. Kiefer and Hester Peters Kiefer in Osceola, Missouri, on the Kiefer Ranch. He married Mabel E. Kiefer in September of 1949. They celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Mr. Kiefer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carmi. Earnie graduated from Lockyear Business College with a degree in accounting, and worked for several years as a bookkeeper for many Grayville businesses. He also was the Grayville city treasurer for 37 years. Later he worked for Sinclair Oil Corporation as a pumper. He was also Superintendent for Sohio  Pipe Line /British Petroleum.

He is survived by his two sons, David (Jennifer) Kiefer of Albion, Timothy (Pamela) of Grayville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, David Ryan ( Jane ) Kiefer of Fairfield, Joshua ( Melissa ) of Albion, Zachary Kiefer of Grayville and Jaime Kiefer. His four great-grandchildren are Jase , Nate and Piper Kiefer of Fairfield and Mareah Kiefer of Grayville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rollin Kiefer and his wife Mabel.

Earnie’s greatest pleasure in life was fishing, especially with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and his many fishing buddies.

He was also very proud of his Native American heritage. His grandmother was a Native American of the Creek Nation of Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 11: A.M. on Saturday April 16, 2016 at the Grayville Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A. M. with services starting at 11:00. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Lung Association.
