Dwight Catlin, 99, of Norris City passed away at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born in White County, IL the son of the Rev. Otto Simpson and Stella Blanche (Bryant) Catlin. Dwight worked at an ammunition plant in St. Louis during World War II before working 45 years for Kirk Drilling where he was a driller. He married Ruth V. Buttry on January 29, 1938 and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2007. Dwight was a member of First Baptist Church in Norris City and enjoyed fishing.
Dwight is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stella and Paul Knowles of Imperial Beach, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Sue Catlin of Carmi; six grandsons, Kevin, Karlton and Curtis Hutchinson and Brian, Mike and Troy Catlin; along with several great and great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Heathcock and Beulah Muriel Pool; a brother, Guthrie Catlin; a great-grandchild, Dakota Hutchinson; and a great-great grandchild, Kyler Lee Johnson.
Funeral services for Dwight Catlin, 99, of Norris City will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in Ditney Ridge Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made in Dwight's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
