Doug Moore

Doug Moore, 92, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Wabash Christian Village. He was born in Carmi on June 19, 1925 the son of Raymond and Sabina (Desper) Moore. Doug married Wilma Jean Conrey on November 19, 1949. He served in the Navy during World War II. Doug was the manager at Baker Oil Tools for 31 years and the co-owner of Wabash Oil Company for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Naval Armed Guard Reunion, Carmi City Council and participated in Honor Flight. Doug was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, University of Illinois fan and fisherman along with being a strong supporter of Carmi White County High School athletics. He was a member of the Over the Hill Gang and McDonalds coffee crew.

Doug is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wilma; son, Stan (Alice) Moore, of Carmi; two daughters Jeannie (Barry) Stewart, of Carmi and Judy (Tom) Rich, of Alexandria, KY; sister, Zella Maxine Thompson, of Girard, IL; seven grandchildren, Tammy (P.J.) Howard, Chad (Faye) Moore, Jill (Jeff) Doneghue, Stacy (Russ) Rottmann, MacKenzie Rich, Madi Rich and Dylan Rich and six great-grandchildren, Camryn Howard, Natalie Howard, Leah Doneghue, Lilly Doneghue, Chase Rottmann and Tristan Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Sabina Moore and two brothers, Robert Moore and Jim Moore.

Funeral services for Doug Moore, 92, of Carmi will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi with military rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Doug's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the White County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
