Dorothy Bassemier, 73, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, April 4 2013 at 7:30 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born July 14, 1939 in Omaha, the daughter of W. H. "Bill" and Alta (Cox) Patton. Dorothy married Thomas Richard Bassemier on September 9, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2005. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Terence and Susan Bassemier and Michael Bassemier, of Carmi; three daughters, Cathy and Robert Bond of McLeansboro, Pamela Bassemier of Carmi, Robin and Todd Dismuke of Belleville, and Brenda Taylor and friend Vicki of Princeton, IN; nine grandchildren, Terry Bond, Ryon Dismuke, Beth McWhirter, Zachary, Nichole, and Heather Bassemier, Angela Mendenhall, and Lisa and Ashely Miller; 8 great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby and Raymond Aud of Wood River, IL.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Ernie, and Red Patton; and two sisters, Ovella McCelab and Marie Ward.
Funeral services for Dorothy Bassemier, 73 of Carmi, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Chris Pollard officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
