Doris Walden

Doris M. Walden, 85, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.

Doris was born on August 19, 1923 in Iowa City, Iowa to George & Edith (Schuppert) Tomlin.
Doris lived in Iowa City, Iowa until 2000 when she moved to Mt. Vernon, Indiana to live with her son and daughter in law, Jerry and Shelia Walden.

In the summer of 1977, Doris gave her life to Jesus and accepted Him as her personal Lord and Savior. She loved the Lord and her family very deeply and was always generous and kindhearted.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Thomas P. Walden, her sister Marguerite Ruppert.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jerry and Shelia Walden of Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
Her grandchildren, Joshua Walden (Mt. Vernon, Indiana), Rachel Toon and her husband, Nathan (Mt. Vernon, Indiana), Scott Walden (Iowa City, Iowa) and Steve Walden (Las Vegas, Nevada).
Her great-grandchildren, Dakota Walden (Mt. Vernon, Indiana), Nolan Dick (Middletown, Indiana), Andrea Walden (Henderson, Nevada) and Adam Walden (Henderson, Nevada).
Extended family members, Tisha Arvin (Dakota Walden’s mother of Mt. Vernon, Indiana), Jean Vitosh (Scott and Steve Walden’s mother of Iowa City, Iowa), Trent and Barb Taylor of Bend, Oregon and Charles Heath of Iowa City, Iowa.
The family of Doris would like to thank her physician Dr. Matthew Lee, The Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center nurses and staff who took such wonderful care of her with a special thank you to her nurse Donna Harloff & Pastor Tom Buffington.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Iowa City, Iowa.
