Doris Saltzman

Doris M. Saltzman, age 90 of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday evening October 8, 2013 at the Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 13, 1923 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Valker and Allie Belle (Phelps) Tomlinson. She married Walter “Bud” Saltzman on June 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2006.

Doris worked in the airplane factory during WWII. She had also worked at the Mount Vernon Coat Factory. She was a longtime member of the Mount Vernon Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (Jane) Saltzman of Mt. Vernon; 1 sister, Elnora Tomlinson Shipley of Mt. Vernon and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 3 brothers and sister-in-laws, Louis and Louise, Fred and Virginia and George and Nancy Tomlinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday October 15, 2013 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home, 1330 E. 4th St., Mount Vernon with Rev. Eric Padgett officiating. Burial will be in Old Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Mt.
