Doris Ross

Doris Ross, 85, of Carmi, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 5:40 a.m. at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born September 21, 1927 in Grayville, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Elva (Pribble) Eck. Doris married Robert "Bob" Ross on October 21, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2002. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW auxilary. Doris was an avid bingo player at the VFW and a Cubs fan.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Keith Carter of Carmi and Bonnie and Jim Earl of Fairfield; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stan Ross of Carmi and Robert Allen and Donna Ross of Evansville, IN; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Connolly, Barbara Shields and Janet and Gary Baxley all of Carmi; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Willard Eck of Grayville and Clarence and Dorothy Eck, Jr. of McLeansboro; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eck.

Funeral services for Doris Ross, 85, of Carmi, will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2;00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
