Donald Hutchinson

Donald "Don" Hutchinson, 74, of Carmi, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 7:20 p.m. at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, IN. He was born July 20, 1939 in Carmi, IL, the son of Robert and Pauline (Vaupel) Hutchinson. Don was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a Petty Officer First Class and served on the U.S. Kitty Hawk as an aviation machinist. Don retired from Boeing Aircraft and was a member of V.F.W. Post 3851.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin and Renee Hutchinson of Norris City, Karlton and Lori Hutchinson of Woodland, CA and Curtis Hutchinson of Carson Valley, NV; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Hutchinson of Washington, Roger and Lois Hutchinson of Carmi and Herman Hutchinson of Harrisburg, IL; nine grandchildren; and eightteen great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Mary Jane Chapman, Becky Vandewater and Rowena Jones.

Funeral services for Donald "Don" Hutchinson, 74, of Carmi, will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Jerry Crawford officiating. Burial will be at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi with Military Rites by the Carmi American Legion and V.F.W. Friends may call on Wednesday, after 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may be given in Don's name to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
