Donald D. Coston, 93, of Elizabethtown, KY, and formerly of Carmi, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was born May 12, 1924 in Emma Township, White County, IL, the son of John Franklin Coston and Helen Pearl Callicotte Coston. He married Anna L. Bates in Enfield on August 20, 1947, and they were married for 68 years, until her passing in 2016. Don was a veteran of World War II, and had a great love for his country. He was a truck driver for Cox Oil Company in Carmi for 43 years. He was a ham radio enthusiast (K9RZP), and spent his later years in his workshop, building birdhouses and craft items for his daughter and her friends.
Don is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Coston Moss and Steven Moss of Elizabethtown, KY, a sister, Mildred Jamerson of Carmi, a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Jim Ridenour of Crossville, IL, along with many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bates Coston, two brothers, Melvin Wayne Coston and Doyle Ray Coston, and a sister, Dorothy May Coston.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi with military rites by the Carmi VFW and American Legion. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Don’s memory to the White County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
