Don Henson

Donald Wayne "Don" Henson, 78, of Norris City, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Marion, IL. He was born in Norris City on September 15, 1937 the son of Marion Earl and Louise Jenelle (Wooten) Henson. Don married Karen Rae Jordan on March 28, 1964. He was boilermaker for Babcock and Wilcox and later worked for Caterpillar in Springfield. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Henson; a son, Derek (Debbie) Henson of Norris City; a daughter, Darla (Rick) Chappelle of Carmi; four grandchildren, Weston and Trevor Henson and Kelsea and Kaylea Chappelle; two sisters, Sandra (Bert) Knight of Carmi and Martha West of Englewood, FL; one aunt, Margaret McKenzie of Kearney, MO; and many cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Bradshaw, Ray Henson, and Bill Henson; a sister, Donna Jean Townsend; his grandparents, Soloman R. and Zoa (Black) Henson, and Bill and Rose (Parker) Wooten; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Verla (Pollard) Jordan.

Funeral Services for Don Henson, 78, of Norris City will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Burial will be at Rice Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 11:00 a.m until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Norris City Memorial Library or the Norris City Ministerial Alliance and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
