Don Cruse

Don Cruse, 59, of Carmi passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 10:10 a.m. at his home. He was born July 2, 1953 in Carmi the son of Raymond L. and Edna Elizabeth "Betty" (Trapp) Cruse. Don married Leanna K. Kinnear on May 14, 1993. He was a 1971 graduate of Carmi Township High School. Don worked in the oil field before working 19 years at Consumers Gas Co. where he was a field foreman. He was a avid duck hunter and member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed Go Kart racing and building motors for Go Karts and Junior Sprint Cars as well as coaching Junior Pro Football and summer league baseball. Don loved going fishing with Leanna.

Don is survived by his wife of 19 years, Leanna of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jon and Denice Cruse of Enfield and Steven Smith of Carmi; a daughter, Chrissy Smith of Carmi; four grandchildren, Cade Cruse, Blayne Smith, Jace Smith and Easton Fulkerson; and three cousins, Rick Cruse, Ron Cruse and June Francis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cruse on March 4, 2001 and his father, Raymond Cruse on Janaury 9, 2013.

Funeral Services for Don Cruse, 59, of Carmi will be Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Caampbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Don Cruse Scholarship Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
